I’ll let you in on a little secret.
This week, I didn’t feel particularly inspired to write a blog.
Usually, an idea pops into my head during a lesson or while I’m taking one of my own Pilates sessions. Sometimes it’s something a client says. Other times it’s a quote or a piece of apparatus that sparks an idea. But this week…nothing.
I sat staring at a blank page, waiting for inspiration to show up.
It reminded me of something we talk about often in Pilates.
Motivation comes and goes. Discipline is what carries us forward.
The same thing happens with exercise. There are days when I can’t wait to work out, and there are days when I’d rather do almost anything else. But over the years I’ve learned that consistency – not motivation – is what creates results.
The workouts you don’t feel like doing are often the ones that matter the most.
The same is true for writing.
Sometimes we have to dig a little deeper. We have to stop waiting for inspiration and simply begin. One sentence becomes another. One exercise becomes the next. Before long, we’ve accomplished something we almost talked ourselves out of doing.
Most of life isn’t built on extraordinary moments.
It’s built on doing the ordinary things, over and over again, even when they feel a little mundane.
Those ordinary moments are what quietly move the needle forward.
I’ve never regretted finishing a workout I didn’t want to start.
And today, I don’t regret sitting down to write this blog.
Maybe that’s the lesson.
You don’t have to feel inspired every day. You just have to keep showing up.
Whether it’s your Pilates practice, a daily walk, a project you’ve been putting off, or simply taking the next right step, trust that each small act of consistency is building something bigger than you can see.
Keep showing up.
Your future self will thank you.
